About the role

Flipkart, India's homegrown e-commerce pioneer headquartered in Bangalore, is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Engineering organization and turn massive, high-velocity marketplace data into decisions that shape how millions of customers shop every day. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and business — designing the metrics, models, and dashboards that leadership and cross-functional teams rely on. You will own analysis end-to-end: from framing the question and instrumenting the right data, to delivering insights that directly influence product roadmaps, supply chain efficiency, pricing, and customer experience at national scale. This is a high-visibility, high-impact opportunity for someone who loves ambiguous problems, works fluently across SQL and Python, and can translate complex datasets into a clear narrative for non-technical stakeholders. You'll partner with data engineers and product managers to raise the analytical bar across the organization, mentor junior analysts, and help define how success is measured for our next generation of customer experiences. Responsibilities: • Own end-to-end analytical projects: frame business questions, define success metrics, build the analysis, and present actionable recommendations to engineering, product, and business leadership. • Design, maintain, and continuously improve core reporting and self-serve dashboards that give teams a trusted, single view of performance. • Write and optimize complex SQL queries against large-scale, distributed data warehouses to answer high-impact business questions quickly and reliably. • Partner with data engineers to define data models, improve data quality, monitor pipelines, and ensure metric consistency and documentation across the organization. • Design and analyze A/B tests and quasi-experiments, establishing guardrail metrics and translating results into clear go/no-go recommendations. • Proactively identify trends, anomalies, and growth or efficiency opportunities across the customer journey, and drive follow-through with owning teams. • Mentor junior analysts, review their work, and contribute to internal standards and best practices for analysis, documentation, and metric governance. • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate loosely defined problems into scoped, prioritized analytical roadmaps with clear timelines. Qualifications: • 4-7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related analytical role, preferably in e-commerce, consumer internet, or a high-volume data environment. • Advanced SQL proficiency: comfortable with complex joins, window functions, and query performance tuning on very large datasets. • Strong Python skills for data manipulation and analysis (pandas, NumPy; statsmodels or scikit-learn a plus). • Solid grounding in statistics, including hypothesis testing, experiment design, and common pitfalls in A/B testing. • Hands-on experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, plus strong spreadsheet/Excel modeling capability. • Proven ability to communicate complex findings clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences, in writing and in presentations. • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of independently scoping ambiguous problems and delivering on tight timelines. • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent quantitative field.
